Double Full Arch
Sometimes we do implants for missing teeth, but in this patient’s case, we did implants for loose teeth.
This case was due to periodontal disease, which causes bone loss, and causes the teeth to become loose. Every tooth, and he had them all in there – were at least class I mobile. After a quick FMD to get the bacterial load down, we brought him in and placed 4 implants on the top and 4 on the bottom. He wore temps for 3 months, and finally got the final teeth delivered — right in time for his class reunion!
Implants are a GREAT option for patients suffering with uncontrollable periodontal disease. We advise our full-arch patents that had periodontal disease, especially severe periodontal disease, to come in for 3 month recare rather than 6 months. The goal is not to remove the prosthetics unless necessary, and if homeware is excellent we will not need to remove them. Excellent home care includes use of the water-pik twice a day and brushing the prosthetics with a Sonicare and minty fresh toothpaste. We always love swishing with some Listerine Zero, too!
