Front Teeth Upgrade!

This patient had some crowns placed on his front teeth when he was much younger. Thankfully for him, the teeth remained vital! Unfortunately, his bite changed and the porcelain on the crowns (They were PFM) wore away his lower teeth.

He did invisalign and then was ready to make a big improvement in his smile! We did 10 minimally invasive porcelain veneers to improve his smile shape, color, and clarity!

Veneers dont have to be invasive or a major undertaking – if we are adding more tooth than we are taking away. That is why cases like this always start with what we call a waxup – based on the phrase in the old days where a lab technician or ceramist literally applied wax to a plaster cast of the teeth. Now, this is done digitally and done with a combination of about 25 photos and some digital scans of the teeth.

My only complaint was that Invisalign did not align the gums on the two centrals. I did not want to trim the tissue to make them match – they are the only two crowns (the other restorations are veneers) so we can always move them and redo them later. It is much harder to grow back tissue than it is to remove it – so we made the conservative choice to leave it asymmetrical for now. Thankfully with a low lip line, the gingival zenith does not show in his smile.

This case was predictable due to perfect pre planning as well as careful control of the occlusion.
