Single Front Tooth Implant

Single front tooth implants can be some of the hardest teeth to restore! This patient came to us with root caries on #9 and a vertical root fracture, which had created a space for a periodontal lesion, purulence on palpation, and pain.

Initial Presentation. Note the purulence and fracture.

Our plan was simple, put the tooth back. But sadly that process isn’t as simple in actuality! We had to do guided bone regeneration since there was no buccal bone left after the periodontal abscess. He healed great, but the bone graft took 6 months to heal. He wore a flipper as a temporary during that time.

After the 6 months, we placed a BioHorizons implant using a 3D printed surgical guide to get the implant in the right spot! He healed for another 3 months and continued to wear his flipper.

After a total of 9 months, it was tooth delivery day (our favorite day)! He has a custom Zirconia abutment, a layered Katana Zirconia crown, and we did our best to match the shape and color of his natural teeth. He was impressed and so were we!
