Third time is the charm!

This patient had been through two previous rounds of upper arch crowns trying to fix her bite! With some implants, root canals, and old crowns… she had seen a lot of dentists, and spent a lot of time in the dental chair!

She came to us to discuss cosmetics, with a chief complaint of the exposed root surface on #8. We decided to start with an autogenous connective tissue graft, or gum graft. The results were great, we got 100% of root coverage!

After discussing cosmetic options and an attempt to idealize her bite, we decided redoing the anterior crowns would be her best decision. The old crowns were about 10 years old, and bonded LiSi.

We started with a waxup, and planned to open her bite by leveling out the occlusal table. We took photos and scans, and got ready for the case.

Using the glorious option of oral sedation, we brought her in and began the tedious work of cutting off all of those old restorations! It was a lot of work, but we got everything cleaned up. We scanned for the finals and made a locked-in temp.

After some back and forth, we decided that with her bite issues and grinding/clenching, we should go with Zirconia for the coping, and layer some ceramics on the buccal. We opted for Midwest Dental Arts’ Master Ceramists, and gave them the photos to go to work! We seated the restorations and gave her two weeks to get back to brushing and flossing!

We brought her back to adjust the bite, and take our final pictures! She was over the moon about how they looked, but also how level her bite was! She said for the first time in her life, it finally feels balanced and harmonious!

Thanks for trusting us with your smile, and your bite! We are in love with your smile, gums, and the beautiful ceramics! Shoutout to Midwest Dental Arts – this case was entirely digital, and we knocked it out of the park!
