“Best Decision I Ever Made”

This lovely patient was referred by her husband, who we did a wild transformation on with an upper hybrid with ptergoid implants and working around some crazy bone.

She wanted a consult for upper and lower hybrids, and sadly we had to tell her due to her hour glass ridge on the bottom, she was not a good candidate on the bottom. However – the upper arch was a different story! 6 remaining anterior teeth and I was confident we could get her a good result!

And while that is true, the upper turned out fantastic, the surgery was really difficult! Her bone density was so bad, we struggled to even get her a temporary. That temporary did not touch all of her implants, and we actually brought her back in 4 weeks to attempt the upper left ptergoid implant again. What a hard case! Such a kind patient, who was very appreciative and understanding of the process!

We did an upper hybrid, and made a traditional RPD on the lower, utilizing metal clasps to try to hold onto as much of her remaining teeth as we could. If we were to go down the implant route later, we would be considering subperiosteal ‘bird cage’ style implants with extra-osseous fixation. Thats another story!
