Class IV

If a patient loses a front tooth, my first guess is always a baseball. For some reason they are implicated way more often than not! If a patient breaks a front tooth… its usually trauma but my guessing is less accurate.

This patient presented after getting hit in the face at work, with mild mobility on both centrals and an obvious fracture on #9. About an hour and a half later, and about 3 shades of composite, #9 is back to normal!

This case is particularly interesting, and highlights follow up on trauma cases. Believe it or not, #9 remains vital at this time and 2 weeks post-op. However, new PA’s reveal a lesion on the apex of #8, which is nonvital, and the patient noticed the color beginning to change on #8. We did an RCT on #8, which took way less time than fixing #9 did!

Before: Dam It – Always Isolate! Floss ligatures also make these cases way easier
After: 2 Week Post-Opp, note the color shift in #8 prior to the RCT.
