Smile Makeover

So often we get caught up on the concept of ‘quickly’ – and I feel we add to that with the ability to deliver hybrid/full arch dentistry fast. In less than 2 weeks in some cases, patients can leave with a new smile – it is truly remarkable! Almost more remarkable nowadays, is how long it can take to truly transform someone’s smile using traditional adhesive dentistry.

This patient presented with failing bridges on the lower arch, some failing root canals, and she needed posterior support on the lower arch to be restored. In addition to that, she wanted to enhance her smile! The pre-op photos make it clear she has a history of bruxism and grinding, which was going to make it difficult to go without posterior mandibular teeth.

We placed our implants, did a root canals on #18, and did some bone and gum grafting on the buccal aspect to increase the amount of nice, thick connective tissues around the implants. She healed for 4 months following that procedure. After restoring the posterior (shoutout to Midwest Dental Arts for the ceramic and implant work!) we moved on to the upper arch. Midwest Dental Arts again came in with the digital waxup and crown lengthening guide, all done digitally using scans and full-face photos.

The teeth were prepped, temporized, and full-flap crown lengthening was performed. The tissue was allowed to heal for 12 weeks and stabilize. The margins were refined, the preps scanned, and the case was sent to Midwest for their Master Ceramist to fabricate eMax veneers/crowns with hand-layered porcelain. The goal was to go with a shape and color to enhance the appearance of the teeth, without going with something so white that it would stand out in a bad way. I settled on 0M3 from the 3D Master shade guide.

Veneers and crowns were cemented using Panavia V5 resin cement by Kuraray Noritake Dental, and the results are absolutely fantastic! Thanks for trusting us with your smile, and your bite!
